Introduction

I have learned a lot about WWII in my eight years of education. I know the causes, I know the players "countries" and I know the outcome. What I don't know about is WWI. I have always been interested in War, the strategy of it as well as the soldiers mindsets. When choosing a book to read, I knew that I was going to want a war book, preferably WWI or the Vietnam War. My mom told me how good All Quiet on the Western Front was, so I knew I had to read it.
All Quiet on the Western Front is a historical fiction novel is about the life of a German soldier named Paul. My mother told me that the Western Front was a battle line in France and Belgium where most of the fighting took place. These circumstances set off my brain into thinking that most of the book will take place during night when the soldier is thinking about things or during battle. I also know that most great books, like this one, don't have happy endings, so I am expecting Paul or one of his classmates to die.
